The TCR concept is the brainchild of Marcello Lotti, who wanted to recreate the ‘pyramid’ of Touring Car racing seen in the 1990s and 2000s, allowing the same cars to compete in National, Regional, International and Endurance championships around the world.
The strictly controlled TCR Technical Regulations provide close and exciting racing while keeping the running costs under control. The figures speak for themselves – after only three years, there are more than 600 TCR cars from 11 different brands competing in over 30 TCR championships globally.
The new TCR UK Championship joins the rapidly expanding ‘family’ of TCR series around the world. It will be the headline Championship of each race weekend, bringing some of the most exciting new racing cars onto the British motorsport scene.
The TCR UK Calendar provides a nationwide platform for competing teams, car brands and sponsors alike. The race events are held throughout the UK as the headline act of the BRSCC meeting with support from series such as National Formula Ford, the Mazda MX5 Supercup and the VW Cup.
The UK’s love for motor racing, and Touring Car racing in particular, suggests that TCR UK is set to be the latest part of the TCR success story.
